HILL, Thomas: Born in Birmingham, England in 1829, came to U.S. in 1841, died in Raymond, CA in 1908. Studied at PAFA with Rothmerel in 1853, in Paris with Meyerheim in 1866, but primarily self taught. Received 31 awards, pieces in museums nationwide, commissioned by Muir to paint Alaska in 1887. Best known for his majestic landscapes of Yosemite.
